Our buddy Rudi is one of our favorite actors on the planet. You may remember him from our productions of Doctor Faustus and Frogs. He will be starring in a crazy (and apparently pretty gory) retelling of the Donner Party story. The production is called The Tower and it’s presented by the AntiMatter Collective (founded in part by fellow Brown University alumni). Join the party!

A LITTLE ABOUT THE PLAY

Titled for the Tarot card of chaos and collapse, The Tower is a psychedelic journey into the history and mythology of the Donner Party, a group of snowbound pioneers who notoriously resorted to cannibalism to survive a brutal winter. Part loft party, part guided tour, The Tower employs historical fact and hallucinatory speculation in search of the terrible heart of the Donner legend. A vision of adolescent America: frostbitten, bloodstained, ravenous.

What We're Seeing: Every Good Girl Deserves Fun

Last week, our friends in Clutch Productions opened their inaugural production, Every Good Girl Deserves Fun, and we couldn’t be more excited to catch this new play Heidi Armbruster. The good people in Clutch have been doing fantastic work both artistically and socially. In their own words:

“The goal of Clutch Productions is to commission a play from a female playwright and foster it from the blank page to an Off-Broadway production in 12 months. In addition, Clutch’s priority is to create jobs for women in theater and film. Therefore, we require all commissioned works to have a female director, 3+ strong female roles, and that at least 50% of the cast is female.”

What’s more, tonight is Alzheimer’s Awareness Night, with a portion of ticket sales going to Alzheimer’s research and care. This is socially relevant theatre at its best. We’ll be there tonight and hope you will be too!

"There are things more important than love / Name them / Diamonds"

There is a diamond as big as your fist, as heavy as your heart, and touring through Buenos Aires, Argentina. It’s time to steal it. Or it’s time to keep it safe.

Pitting diamond heist against museum intrigue, Untameable follows the story of two young women: one trying to repatriate an old jewel and the other trying to keep old nemeses at bay. The audience is free to wander the space and pick which side of the story to follow.Untameable offers an immersive romp between a criminal den and a modern museum, where the audience, like the characters, must decide between love and diamonds, honesty and victory.  Untameable is an investigation into what we will do to achieve our magnum opus and what gets lost in the winning.
