Kicking off the 2017 Season

Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio

In just under one week, we begin rehearsals for our New York Premiere of Bekah Brunstetter's The Oregon Trail. In the meantime, this past weekend, we celebrated the kick-off of our 2017 season in style with friends, family, collaborators, and supporters.

With live music from the incredible Kyp Malone (of TV on the Radio), Big Data spinning tunes, and a vintage video game cabinet featuring the classic Oregon Trail, the celebration went late into the evening.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out and made the night an incredible success!

A LITTLE ABOUT THE PLAY

In the midst of an unexpected double shift (on Christmas Eve, no less) a group of degenerate hotel employees stumble their way through an unusual night of service. It’s a “coming of age when you’re already of age” story. Sometimes it takes a miracle to grow the hell up. Wake Up Call s an 90 minute contemporary play set in the lobby of a luxury boutique hotel in New York City. In the respect that hotels are transitional places for the guests, the same is true for the people that work there. Navigating through the misadventures of the evening, from outlandish guests to unpredictable coworkers, we follow their journey into adulthood. Sort of.

'Summer' Workshop

December 3, 2016 John Racioppo

It's been a busy few weeks at Fault Line Theatre.

In addition to announcing our next show Bekah Brunstetter's The Oregon Trail, we've also been busy developing Michael Weller's latest script, Summer. Over the course of three days, under the direction of Aaron Rossini, we had the opportunity to work through the script with an incredible cast made up of Brooke Bloom, Tony Crane, Ali Rose Dachis, Drew Foster, and Bhavesh Patel.

We love workshopping plays in progress. In a lot of ways, it's at the core of what we do as a company that focuses on the creation of new, socially relevant plays. It was a joy to spend the week buried in Michael's excellent new work!

Now for a limited time only, The McKittrick Hotel is teaming up with The National Theatre of Scotland to present The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart. Do. Not. Miss. This.

Announcing The Oregon Trail

November 29, 2016 John Racioppo
16-9 Oregon Trail - TEASER.jpg

Information about this has been trickling out for the last couple months now, but we're so proud to announce that our next show will be the New York premiere of Bekah Brunstetter's The Oregon Trail. Directed by Geordie Broadwater, the show will run at the WP Theater at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre from January 13 - February 12.

"Continue. On. The. Trail."

It’s 1997. Alone in her computer lab, 13-year-old Jane finds her escape from the awkward throes of puberty by joining her sister and her unattainable high school crush in a covered wagon headed west on “The Oregon Trail.” Under the guidance of the all-powerful Voice of the Game, we watch “Then Jane” and her family navigate the deadly perils of 1850s frontier life, while present day Jane navigates the different but all-too-real dangers of high school, college, and eventually adulthood. Jane soon finds herself in her 20s, unemployed and battling an undefinable lifelong depression, even as “Then Jane” continues to face the tribulations of the trail. With nearly two centuries between them, both Janes face hardships that seem impossible to overcome—until they find one another.

Tickets will be on sale soon, but until then find out more information including cast, creatives, and the performance schedule right here.

A Little About The Play

Your favorite holiday tradition. Or your chance to make a new one.
The Playhouse's version of A Christmas Carol combines faithful storytelling with spellbinding stage magic to bring to life its familiar story of a sinner given one last chance at redemption by four persuasive ghosts. Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a miraculous Christmas Eve transformation as he views with new eyes his past, present and the possibilities of the future. As he witnesses all those who have improved his life — his first love Belle, his kindhearted employer Fezziwig, his nephew Fred and his heartily abused clerk Bob Cratchit — he realizes that it's never too late to change his miserly ways. A Christmas Carol's heartwarming message, hundreds of costumes and thrilling special effects help to make the show one of the Playhouse's most popular productions each year.

"For my money, there's no better local holiday entertainment." – The Cincinnati Enquirer

A LITTLE ABOUT THE SHOW

"Pop’s new scripted comedy Nightcap is a laugh-at-itself, satirical look at the late-night TV landscape, set behind the scenes of the fictitious talk show Nightcap With Jimmy. Every week, A-list celebrities stop by as they would on any real-life talk show—only this time, viewers get an exaggerated look at the hilarity backstage.

Insanity, absurdity and urgency reign, and it’s up to head talent booker Staci (Ali Wentworth) to wrangle both her dysfunctional staff and the myriad of stars who bring their quirks, diva demands and peculiar antics to the set."
