Synopsis

Desperation, desire, and too many drinks to count, Turbo's follows a group of friends at a bar in rural Kansas as they welcome a new artist to live in residence at the Boyhood Home of the Dead Playwright. Don't worry about the sound coming from the sink in the middle of the night; that's just your imagination. A comic-thriller that pays homage to the repressed homosexual playwrights of the last century, and the artists of this era who orient themselves with hope for the future, against all odds.

Playwright

EMMA HORWITZ [she/her] is a writer born & raised in New York City. Recent productions include: Two Sisters Find a Box of Lesbian Erotica in the Woods (created & performed w/ Bailey Williams, dir. Tara Elliott, w/ Rattlestick Theater and New Georges) and Mary Gets Hers (dir. Josiah Davis, w/ The Playwrights Realm, NYT Critic’s Pick). Page One Resident and Writing Fellow with The Playwrights Realm. Clubbed Thumb’s Early-Career Writers’ Group alum. Affiliated Artist & previous Audrey Resident w/ New Georges. Chesley/Bumbalo Playwriting Award for The Executrix. Recent residencies include: The Barn at Lee, North American Cultural Laboratory, Mercury Store, and Coffey Street Studio. Director

WILL DAVIS [he/him] is a director and choreographer. His work has been seen Off-Broadway at Signature Theatre, City Center, Roundabout Theatre, MTC, MCC, Playwrights Horizons, Clubbed Thumb, and Soho Rep. Regionally, his work has been seen at La Jolla Playhouse, Baltimore Center Stage, Shakespeare Theater Company, Long Wharf Theatre and ATC in Chicago where Davis previously served as Artistic Director. He received a Helen Hayes award for best direction for his work on Colossal at the Olney Theatre Center, was nominated for a Lucille Lortel award for his direction of Men on Boats at Playwrights Horizons, and is the recipient of a Princeton Arts Fellowship. Davis is the Artistic Director of Rattlestick Theater.
