Vivienne Benesch

As an actor, director, producer and teacher Vivienne Benesch has had the great fortune to collaborate with exceptional theater artists of many generations on all sides of the table. She is in her eleventh season as artistic director of the renowned Chautauqua Theater Company which also boasts a conservatory program that has become one of the premiere summer destinations in the nation for emerging theatre artists.  As a director, Benesch has worked at Chautauqua, PlayMakers Rep, Shakespeare Theater of NJ, Trinity Rep, NYU’s Graduate Acting Program and at Juilliard where she has been a project director for the last eight years.  Vivienne has worked extensively as an actress on and Off-Broadway, in film and television and at many of the country’s most celebrated theatres. She received an OBIE Award, which honors achievement in Off-Broadway theater, and has worked alongside Gene Wilder, Maggie Smith and Blythe Danner among many others.  She has recently served as a visiting faculty member at NYU, Brown-Trinity and UNC Chapel Hill’s MFA training programs.  For five years Vivienne served as chair of the theater panel for the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (now YoungArts.)
