Synopsis

Bathsheba’s Psalms, Or A Woman of Unusual Beauty Taking A Bath is a raucous retelling of the David and Bathsheba myth, beholding Bathsheba’s voice front and center. Both hilarious and sensual, the play is an explosive journey through time immemorial, upending several genres and tropes on female beauty, power, consent and desire.

Playwright

April Ranger is a poet, playwright and performer from Maine. Her poems have appeared in Muzzle Magazine, Drunk In A Midnight Choir, and The Journal. Her full-length play, Must Wash Hands, (produced by Brooklyn College Performing Arts Department) premiered at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in November 2017. She is currently pursuing her M.F.A in playwriting at Brooklyn College, and a production of her most recent play, The Sandwich Program, will premiere at the Public Theater in August 2018 as part of the Bring A Weasel And A Pint Of Your Own Blood Festival.

Director

Christina Roussos is a director and teaching artist. She has worked with EST's Youngblood, Caps Lock Theater, Theater Breaking Through Barriers (Associate Director 2009 - 2012), Clubbed Thumb (2017 Directing Fellow), and the New Georges Jam. Her work has appeared at the Kennedy Center, Rattlestick Theater Jam, the Brick, Judson Church, and on Norwegian radio. Recent productions include Hippos of the Eastern Enclosure by Jen Silverman (Clubbed Thumb Winterworks) and Nectar by Katie Baldwin Eng (Axial Theater). She also directs webseries, short films and music videos. She is one half of the performance art duo Elfant along with her partner, drummer John Bollinger, creating multi-media interactive works around identity. She has devised work with Bennington College students, was a '15/'16 Teaching Fellow at Brooklyn College and teaches project building and character creation in the MFA Visual Narrative program at the School of Visual Arts. Upcoming work includes: Untitled Cooking Show developed with Tasha Gordon-Solmon at the New Georges Jamboree in May, and a workshop of Who Do I Think I Am with Elfant in June.
